Pakistani seamers can trouble NZ batsmen: Mickey Arthur

NELSON: Pakistan cricket team head coach Mickey Arthur said on Friday that his team's seam bowlers had what it takes to trouble the Kiwi batsmen.
Speaking to local media in Nelson, where rain washed away the first day of the warm-up match against New Zealand ‘A’, Mickey Arthur was all praise for both sides' bowling attack.
"Pakistan and New Zealand both have an impressive bowling attack," he said. "Pakistan's seam bowlers can trouble the Kiwi batsmen," he added.
Mickey Arthur stated that the preparation of a supporting wicket for the first Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand at Hagley Oval, Christchurch was not surprising.
"It's generally a fairly good wicket there and if anything, it'll swing and seam a little bit," Arthur said.
"We've got some pretty handy swing and seam bowlers as well. I still think it's going to be top seven versus top seven really because both sides possess really good bowling attacks in all departments, seam swing, pace and spin,” Stuff.co.nz quoted him as saying.
Arthur said he would not take the upcoming two-match Test series lightly and warned that it could prove difficult for the batsmen.
"The Test matches could prove to be troubling for the batsmen in particular," he said.
Pakistan play their first Test match against New Zealand on November 17 at The Hagley Oval in Christchurch and the second on November 25 at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Newzealand Test Team announce Againts Pakistan 2016-17

KARACHI: The Black Caps squad for the ANZ Test series against Pakistan features uncapped Auckland players, Jeet Raval and Colin de Grandhomme, while Canterbury’s Todd Astle has earned a recall.
The squad will assemble in Christchurch on Monday, with the two match Test series beginning three days later.
Martin Guptill, Doug Bracewell, Jeetan Patel, Luke Ronchi and Ish Sodhi have been dropped following the recent tour of India.
Astle played one Test in 2012 against Sri Lanka, while also appearing in two Twenty20s last summer against Pakistan.
De Grandhomme is yet to play a Test, but played in both short formats in 2012, while Raval toured with the Test team to Zimbabwe and South Africa, but is yet to feature for the Black Caps in any format.
Selector Gavin Larsen said Astle and de Grandhomme’s performances spoke for themselves.
“Todd’s been incredibly consistent at the domestic level, having been one of the top four wicket takers in the Plunket Shield for the past threes seasons,” said Larsen.
“His bowling has continued to improve and he’s also shown impressive form with the bat, so Todd provides a similar skill set to Mitchell Santner in his absence.
“Since Colin returned from injury last season, he’s made a number of key contributions with bat and ball. He’s made an impressive start to the current Plunket Shield season and he provides us with another strong allrounder option."
Larsen admitted there had been a number of difficult decisions that had to be made.
“There were a number of tough calls and when naming a squad of 13 it’s a challenge to make sure we get the balance right.
“Jeet has been in the picture for a while now and he benefitted from spending time in the environment during the tour of Africa. His form in recent seasons has been excellent and the opportunity for Jeet to begin his international career in familiar conditions will be important.
“Luke, Martin, Doug miss out this series, but we know that they and the others who miss out will continue to work hard on their game and get the chance to continue staking a claim in the domestic competition.”
Six players were not considered due to injury, those being Mitchell Santner, Mark Craig, Adam Milne, Mitchell McClenaghan, Colin Munro, and George Worker. Corey Anderson was also not in contention, as he continues to work on building up his bowling work load.
*Todd Astle and Colin de Grandhomme come out of the NZ A squad to face Pakistan in Nelson beginning tomorrow, with Kyle Jamieson and Luke Woodcock to be their replacements.
